Urban explorers appear to have given a glimpse inside an empty Swindon supermarket that closed over a year ago.

M&S closed the doors of its Regent Street branch in Swindon town centre last October, after 112 years of serving customers.

The prominent unit remains empty one year on and now urban explorer Kirbz Vids has shared a video appearing to show the inside of the vacant building.

The hour-long clip shows two men moving through the empty M&S supermarket and gives an insight into the current state of the building.

Kirbz Vids told the Adver that the eerily empty building is slowly “falling apart” and hopes to see it filled by another major retailer to boost the town centre.

He said: “(It’s) obviously another blow for Swindon. I heard Toys R Us is moving into a Chippenham store.

“I think (it) would be good if Toys R Us took over the old M&S building.

“The building is falling apart slowly, already has holes in the roof and water leaking through the ceiling when it rains.”

On the one-year anniversary of M&S announcing they would shut the store, shoppers told the Advert the area had gone “downhill” since the closure.
