Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra is preparing for its upcoming Christmas concert.

The annual event, set for December 8 at 4pm, will feature a mix of classical, popular, and traditional Christmas music, including a musical narration of T’was the Night Before Christmas.

The performance will take place at St Bartholomew’s and All Saints Church and will see the orchestra joined by local choir Baker’s Dozen.

The choir consists of singers from Royal Wootton Bassett and the surrounding area and performs choral music spanning the centuries, including early polyphonic works, traditional folk, and contemporary pieces.

Refreshments, including mulled wine and mince pies will be served, and tickets, priced at £10 for adults, are available through the orchestra's website.

Under 16s can attend for free.

Founded in 1982, Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra is one of the longest established amateur orchestras in the area, performing three concerts a year, in addition to a charity concert.

Following the Christmas concert, the orchestra is set to present a programme titled 'A Tale of Two Cities', featuring music from Vienna and Berlin, along with an R Strauss horn concerto with a soloist, in Malmesbury Abbey on March 15, 2025.

The orchestra has some vacancies, and those interested in joining can get in touch via their website.
