People from across Swindon gathered for a discussion on climate change at the Science Café last week.

The event, held on Tuesday, November 5, featured Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh, an environmental psychologist from the University of Bath and a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Professor Whitmarsh regularly advises government and other organisations on low-carbon behaviour change and climate change communication.

Dr Roderick Hebden, director of the Festival of Tomorrow, said: "After an incredible start in October, we were delighted that even more local people turned out on a chilly November evening to join the discussion.

"It’s a real testament to the passion and enthusiasm of local people to tackle difficult subjects head-on and explore different viewpoints and ideas together - in a friendly and sociable way."

Held on the first Tuesday of every month, the Swindon Science Café aims to bring science to life with short talks and informal discussions.

Future events include a discussion on soil health on December 3, and the future of hydrogen as a fuel on February 4.
