Train passengers travelling into London on Sunday will have to use an alternative route as Paddington Station will be closed.
Old Oak Common HS2 station work will close London Paddington station to all rail services for the day.
Most long-distance rail routes on November 17 will terminate at Reading, where GWR customers can use Elizabeth Line trains to Ealing Broadway and then switch to the London Underground to reach the centre of the UK’s capital.
Those travelling from South Wales, and from Devon and Cornwall, will each have one service an hour into London Euston instead which will not stop at Reading and must be booked in advance.
There is also a reduced service between Reading and London Paddington today as only two out of four tracks between these stations are available for use.
On Sunday, fewer trains will run on other long-distance routes to and from Reading, and those that do will be very busy. Services may be cancelled or delayed at short notice.
Journey planners will not show all changes correctly before Sunday morning.
A GWR spokesperson said: “We're sorry for the impact this will have on your journey. We advise customers to only travel if absolutely necessary and change plans if possible.
“If you have already bought tickets for Sunday, November 17, they will be valid on Saturday, November 16, or Monday November 18, or you can claim a full refund.”
