An urban explorer captured the last look inside an abandoned Swindon community centre before it got demolished.
The YouTuber, who regularly peeks around empty or disused sites around the town, uploaded a 13-minute tour of the old Nythe community centre.
Nythe Community Centre sat unused for several years after it closed in 2021 when the trustees stepped down due to old age.
Despite new trustees being sought, its condition meant that it couldn't be reopened without construction work and in May 2024, it was earmarked by Swindon Borough Council for demolition.
Demolition work began in October despite a petition by Barbara and Kevin Parry which received more than 300 signatures and called for Swindon Borough Council to pay £20,000 to repair the building and then hand it over to the Nythe, Eldene and Liden Parish Council to look after.
Lawson Group boarded up and fenced off the building before knocking it down. Today, little of the structure remains.
Swindon Borough Council previously acknowledged that there is a demand for a community space in Nythe and said that this is something they will look into when re-evaluating what the site can be used for.
