A grandmother is set to have a buzzcut to raise money for a children's cancer charity.

Swindon blogger Angela Atkinson, 68, who is well known for her blog Born Again Swindonian, is to shave her head to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides free wigs for children and young people who lose their hair as a result of chemotherapy.

Ms Atkinson became aware of the charity after her granddaughter Millie, eight, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

She said: "Finding out Millie has cancer was a complete shock to us all, but she is a very brave little girl.

"She is coping with her treatment and responding well.

"Through Millie’s diagnosis, we discovered Little Princess Trust, which not only provides wigs but funds research into treatments for children’s cancers.

"I wanted to help so have decided to brave a buzzcut to raise funds and awareness."

Ms Atkinson has already exceeded her target of £700, the cost of making one wig, and now hopes to raise enough for two or even three.

She will have the cut on Thursday, November 21.
