The latest forecast for Swindon shows when the snowfall may stop.
Flurries of flakes have fallen around the town since around 9am today and show no signs of slowing down.
Rain which preceded this cold snap has left the ground too wet for the snow to settle.
Swindon Borough Council has activated its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol to accommodate rough sleepers as a frosty chill sweeps through the area and temperatures plummet below zero.
The local authority is working with providers like Booth House and The Haven Day Centre to offer extra provisions during adverse weather and will use additional accommodation if needed.
Drivers have been warned to take extra care while out on the roads as the snow limits visibility and could cause slippery icy patches on the tarmac.
The Met Office forecasts that there is an 80 per cent chance of snow until 2pm, followed by a 60 per cent chance of sleet showers from 2pm to 3pm before the downpours stop and cloudy skies continue to linger above Swindon for the rest of the afternoon.
Temperatures should range from three degrees Celsius to -2C, with wind gusts of up to 19mph.
