A Swindon café has just won the Good Food Awards for the third year in a row.
Owner Stephen Jordan has been running Darkroom Espresso for five and a half years, but he has worked in the specialty café for nine years.
In that time, he has seen the business go from strength to strength and this year the team have received the ‘Gold Seal’ Good Food Award for consistently achieving a high number of customer satisfaction votes over the last three years.
Stephen said: “This year we have just celebrated our 10th birthday. I’ve been coming to the shop from day one when it opened on September 4, 2014. I was always a huge fan so to have worked at the shop as long as I have is amazing and to own it is a dream.
“To win the award three years in a row is a testament to everything we believe in – using only top quality on everything from our coffee, hot chocolate, tea and food.
“Making sure the customers have a nice, relaxing, welcoming and warm space with great service is the very foundation of what we build our business on. Huge thanks to our fantastic customers for continuing to come to us and vote for us.
“The biggest thanks for winning the award has to go to the team, we very much have the same backbone of the team that won the award last year and that shows. They manage to create such a special atmosphere and work so well together to deliver nothing but the best and we will continue to."
“I still feel we are well placed in the centre", Stephen added. "We have offices around us, we are a short walk from the train station. We are well placed to serve office workers and commuters, I think it's important to invest in the town centre and make it great again.
“I’d love to see some more small independent shops in the centre to bring that buzz and unique and diverse culture to our high street, but I accept that isn't easy.
Other winners of the Good Food Awards in Swindon were Sugar Shack Bakery in the Orbital and The Fish Company.
