The state of the Oasis Leisure Centre has been revealed as plans for its redevelopment have been released.

SevenCapital has published its proposals to refurbish Swindon Oasis and restore the dome structure, new leisure spaces, a café and up to 710 flats.

This includes replacing the covering of the dome with a flexible material to prevent leaks and heat loss to place the Oasis site “on a sustainable footing.”

The proposed leisure spaces include a bowling alley, indoor golf, gym, a multi-use games area in the section of the site taken up by the sports hall and a “dynamic and exciting swimming facility” with new slides and a wave machine.

But it does mean that facilities that the skate park and outdoor football pitches, as well as the sports hall, will be lost.

SevenCapital has submitted plans for some of the Oasis site and the Claires factory site across the road to be used for two large warehouses and associated parking, while the plans show up to 710 flats could be built in eight blocks around the perimeter of the site.

The south of the site has been proposed as pocket parks, a skatepark and children’s playparks.

The company is asking for responses to be emailed to feedback@swindonoasis.co.uk by midnight on  Wednesday, November 27.
