A cafe which has built up a loyal following since it opened last year has now announced it will close due to "reasons beyond their control."

Brambles cafe on Royal Wootton Bassett High Street first opened to the public in December 2023, taking over the site from Noden's Coffee when the former owners left to raise a family together.

Since it arrived, Brambles has proved popular with Royal Wootton Bassett locals, offering a warm dog-friendly space with homemade cakes, coffees and gluten-free and vegan options.

But now owner Hazel Dean has announced that the cafe will close at the end of November, almost exactly one year since it opened.

"I have to, with a very heavy and sad heart tell you of our imminent closure.

"Because of a situation totally beyond our control, ‘Brambles’ will cease trading on November 30th at 4pm.

"All bookings arranged for December will still go ahead as planned.

"We would like to express our appreciation to all customers for your loyalty and support, without you we really would not have had the amazing year we have had."

For owner Hazel Dean the whole experience was a 'dream opportunity' that she had never expected to happen.

"It all sort of fell into my lap, it was a bit of a whirlwind and it all happened very quickly," she explained at the opening of the cafe in 2023.

"I wasn’t looking for a business, I was looking for a house to move into the area because I love the High Street of Wootton Bassett.

"When I saw Wootton Bassett High Street I loved all the little shops, the butchers and the bakers and the haberdashery, I loved that sort of thing."

Customers with vouchers and loyalty cards for Brambles have been given 10 days to use them up before the cafe closes its doors to the general public for good.

Sharing their fond memories of the cafe, one resident said: "This is a huge loss to our High Street of a genuinely lovely and very popular independent business serving a great selection of food in a lovely atmosphere.

"I can imagine how hard a decision this was and I hope that one day you get the opportunity to start again."

Others have shared their well wishes and appreciation for all the hard work that Hazel and her team and put into the cafe.
