An American TV star has been spotted having a drink in a pub just 20 miles from Swindon, after a recent move to the Cotswolds.

Ellen DeGeneres is an American comedian, actress and television host, best known for hosing The Ellen DeGeneres Show from 2001 to 2022.

But the TV star has now swapped out sunny California for a (mostly rainy) England after buying a house in the Cotswolds with her Australian actress wife Portia de Rossi.

The news comes after a source close to DeGeneres told the Daily Mail she and de Rossi were fleeing the US in response to the 2024 presidential election, in which former President Donald Trump won.

Sources told TMZ that DeGeneres and de Rossi had already purchased the Cotswolds home before the 2024 election, but they decided to 'get the hell out' of the US afterwards.

In the week beginning November 18, 2024, DeGeneres was filmed at Jeremy Clarkson's new pub just off the Asthall Barrow Roundabout in Oxfordshire, approximately 35 minutes from Swindon.

The American TV host and her wife were pictured with pop star James Blunt.

She has been on the lookout for a house in the area and often visits her celebrity pals.

"A Cotswolds house has become a status symbol in the celebrity world - and Ellen wanted to join the pack."

This picturesque Cotswold area has in recent years become a British celebrity hotspot, a couple of hours' drive from London.

Celebrities who currently own homes in the Cotswolds include Lily Allen, Hugh Grant, David Cameron, Jeremy Clarkson, Damien Hirst, Kate Moss and many more.

But this is also not DeGeneres' first experience of Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.

A year ago she was spotted at a party at a 17th-century stately home in the Cotswolds, sharing a DJ booth with British actor Idris Elba, star of television's Luther.
