A Christmas market that's being held in a Swindon shopping park is being moved indoors due to Storm Bert.

The Orbital Christmas Market is still going ahead from 10am to 4pm at the Orbital Shopping Park, but it will no longer be outdoors.

A spokesperson said: "Due to wind speeds of up to 40mph this weekend, holding the market outside is unfeasible and potentially unsafe.

"We have therefore decided to move the market inside the old Sports Direct building adjacent to where the market usually is (between Card Factory and Boots).

"We have put so much hard work and effort into this as well as having tonnes of really great stall traders that have been busy preparing stock for our first Christmas market.

"Please make sure to still come down and support us and all the traders and performers in attendance.

"See you all there."

The storm has led to other seasonal events like the town centre Christmas Lights Switch-On and Old Town Christmas Festival avoiding this weekend entirely and delaying their scheduled festivities to a later date when there is less chance of heavy rain and gales of wind.
