Pictures from the first day of Storm Bert show rain and wind whipping Swindon amid a yellow weather warning.
The storm and weather warning will continue on Sunday covering the whole of Wiltshire and much of the rest of the UK.
It warns of possible flooding, possible power outages and transport delays.
The last effect, traffic jams, were experienced on a ring of main roads in Swindon including Great Western Way, Kemble Drive and Wootton Bassett Road.

There was no obvious cause for the traffic, but the drivers for once looked glad to be in their cars rather than out in the pouring rain.
STORM BERT LIVE UPDATES: All Storm Bert updates and pictures as 50mph winds to hit Wiltshire
Scheduled events have been cancelled around the county due to safety concerns about Storm Bert.
This includes a day of the highly regarded Festival of Light at Longleat on November 23 - with organisers worried about the tall trees and light sculptures in the high wind.
In Swindon, the two-day Christmas light turn-on was pushed back a week to November 30 and 31.
Wind speeds of over 50mph are anticipated over the weekend. But this does not even get close to the fastest wind speed ever recorded of 173mph at Cairngorm Summit in the Scottish Highlands on March 20, 1986.
