The main pool area at the Oasis Leisure Centre will resemble nothing so much as a tropical paradise if the owner Seven Capital’s plans come to fruition.

The development company has published what it hopes to be able to do to refurbish the centres, closed for four years now, ahead of submitting a formal planning application.

The website swindonoasis.co.uk features pictures of the outside of the building, the layout and some details of the housing and industrial developments around it, which the company says are needed to pay for the centre’s refurbishment.

Now Seven Capital has released an image of what the main pool area might look like – overlooked by a café terrace, it features several different areas,  a circular splash pool, a more traditional rectangular pool and a large area of shallow water with small slides and fountains and showers suitable for younger children.

At the back of the main area would appear to be where riders on the Domebusters chutes emerge into another pool.

Palm trees and other tropical vegetation feature, no doubt thriving in the warmth and humidity under the iconic translucent dome, which Seven Capital says will be covered with a more modern material to keep the heat in.

A public drop-in session about the proposals will be held on Tuesday November 26 between 1pm and 7pm at the Institute of Technology at the New College Swindon North Star Campus.

Comments on the overall proposals should be made via the swindonaosis/co.uk website by 12pm on Wednesday 27 November.
