A restaurant has got its first food hygiene score under its new management after a team of local restaurateurs rallied to reopen it.

And they are a clean act, getting a full five-star food hygiene rating in the team’s first inspection.

Grano Lab replaced Gaetano - but there was no animosity, as the former Gaetano owner, Carlo Sibilla, returned from retirement to manage La Carbonara.

He will be cooking a mixture of authentic Roman dishes and more familiar favourites.

A menu highlight is the pinsa Romana, similar to pizza but lighter due to having a base made using different ingredients.

Gianna said that behind them was the old owner, Lino Goncalves, who would still be around but “as a friend”.

La Carbonara, 62 Westcott Place, is open Tuesday evening 5.30pm to 10pm, Wednesday to Saturday lunchtime 12pm to 3pm and evening 5.30pm to 10pm and Sunday lunchtime 12pm  to 2.30pm.
