A new yellow weather warning has been issued for Swindon and Wiltshire just days after Storm Bert battered the county.

While downpours hit the area and caused severe flooding at the start of the week, another warning for fog has now been issued by the Met Office.

It was put in place shortly after midnight at the start of Thursday, November 28, and is due to remain in place until 11am.

During this time, drivers have been warned to expect “difficult driving conditions” due to “patchy fog” that may disrupt travel around the area.

The warning covers all of Swindon and Wiltshire as well as other large parts of the south.

Meanwhile, Wiltshire Council has warned drivers to expect icy conditions on Thursday morning, adding to the potentially difficult conditions on the roads.

A spokesperson added: “It's cold out there this morning.

“Our gritters were out overnight treating the main routes in the county but minor routes may not be salted, so please take extra care on the school or work run this morning and drive to the conditions at all times.”
