Several fire crews from across the county rushed to a reported fire at an industrial estate in Swindon in the evening on Saturday, November 30.

Around 50 firefighters responded to reports of a building fire at a unit on Faraday Road, thought to be the TE Connectivity, at around 9:20pm.

The fire was quickly brought under control and firefighters left the scene just before 10pm and there were no casualties.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were called to with reports of smoke issuing from a commercial building on Faraday Road, Swindon

"Crews from Swindon, Westlea, Cricklade, Royal Wootton Bassett, Marlborough, Corsham, Devizes, Stratton and Pewsey were mobilised to the incident and on arrival carried out a search and found some materials used in a process had overheated which generated fumes. 

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two main jets and one safety jet and one hose reel jet which was used to cool a container.

"At the height of the incident approximately 50 firefighters were on scene. No casualties were reported and our stop was at 9:59pm."

On Saturday evening a post on Swindon Fire Station read: "We are currently dealing with a large building fire on Faraday Road, Swindon which is creating a lot of smoke in the area.

"We are advising local residents to keep doors and windows closed."

An Advertiser reporter visited the scene in the morning on Sunday, December 1 but could see no evidence of a fire.
