A MAN who crept into a 15-year-old girl's bedroom and molested her while her six-year-old brother slept in the next bed has escaped a jail term.
Craig Parfitt, 31, of Coriander Way, Taw Hill, was given a 36-month community order and told to complete a sex offenders' programme at Swindon Magistrates' Court.
He had previously admitted sexually assaulting the girl during a holiday.
The former Motorola worker pleaded guilty to a charge of indecently touching a 15 year-old girl.
The court heard that during one night on the holiday in October, Parfitt, pictured above, crept into the girl's bedroom and started kissing her.
He returned to her room the next evening and this time went further, touching her inappropriately.
Prosecuting, Nicki Wootton, said Parfitt had got close to the girl after befriending her parents.
"During the course of his visits he became friends with the girl, although she was much younger," Ms Wootton said "The family holiday was arranged and this defendant was invited along."
Defending, Andrew Hobson, said that while on holiday Parfitt had received notes from the girl inviting him to her room.
"Although the girl was 15, and the defendant doesn't blame her, it's fair to say she was a well developed young lady.
"On the first occasion he visited her he went to his room and found a note on his bed and it suggested he should go to her room and he did. He accepts that he shouldn't have.
"The next night there was a note on the bed from the same person. It invited him to go back. He did that.
"He is not, with respect to the injured party, entirely to blame for what happened."
But the District Judge Simon Cooper said that he had betrayed the girl's parents.
"Your conduct amounted to a gross breach of the family's trust, a gross breach of the girl's trust," he told Parfitt.
"You indulged in wholly inappropriate and gross behaviour.
"You are a man who twice overstepped a vital and distinct boundary drawn for the protection of children. I am going to reinforce that boundary."
As well as the 36-month community order and sex offenders' programme, Parfitt was ordered to pay £70 court costs.
