WILTSHIRE County Council's website has performed well in a recent national survey.

The survey of council websites, undertaken by the Society of Information Technology Managers, found www.wiltshire.gov.uk did well in three areas.

The site was rated as very good and an example of best practice for providing information for families moving home and inquiring about schools.

It was praised for the way it was linked to information and services on other websites enabling visitors to link directly to relevant pages on external sites.

Also rated as very good were the variety of transactions people can do online via the website, including being able to renew library books, report road defects, or apply for a school place online.

Wiltshire County Council web manager, Lorna Mummery, said: "We still have some more work to do to make the site fully transactional but this report confirms we are moving in the right direction."
