WILTSHIRE-BASED charity Shaw Trust has been awarded a £6,000 GWR FM Community Trust grant to help 48 people turn their lives around.
The funding will be used to deliver Goals (Gaining Opportunities and Living Skills) training as part of the charity's work in Swindon and Wiltshire to support recovering drug and alcohol addicts back into employment.
"Goals is an extremely effective two-day course that produces outstanding results, and we can now bring it to some of our clients in Swindon and Wiltshire, thanks to GWR FM," said Shaw Trust team leader Julie Cable.
The Shaw Trust which provides training to people disadvantaged in the labour market due to disability, ill health, or social circumstances is also in charge of a Job Centre Plus scheme called progress2work.
The project is aimed at those who are struggling to re-enter the job market as they are disadvantaged owing to their history of drug misuse.
It provides a six-month course of training, confidence building and work preparation, with the eventual aim of full-time work.
