IT HAS already led to "no room at the inn" signs being put up in hotels across the town.
But Swindon's employment market is also set to receive a shot in the arm thanks to next month's UK Corporate Games.
Games organisers have a number of jobs reserved for local people in the multi-sport festival, which is set to get under way on the weekend of June 2 to 4.
"Everything is available, from operations and registration staff to cricket umpires, running marshals and officials," said games international director Esther Nicholls.
"All jobs are paid and each worker also gets special privileges usually reserved for volunteers, including party tickets, T shirts and gifts. Drivers able to handle a transit type van and work on dressing the various venues, delivering sports equipment and handling the signage for sponsors and others are especially welcome."
Drivers need to be at least 23 years of age and have a good knowledge of the Swindon area, while drivers' helpers are also needed and anyone over 18 is eligible.
There are also jobs in administration for all ages in the Super Centre at Lydiard Park from the Friday through to the Sunday.
Marshals are required for some events on Saturday and Sunday, especially for the running competition.
And games managers have also put out an SOS for cricket umpires.
"You will need to be very knowledgeable on the laws of the game, have good eyes and hearing, and be able to make acceptable decisions," said Miss Nicholls.
"A thick skin is also desirable, but at least there are no television replays or hindsight-equipped commentators!"
The Games will see 21 sports, from running to soccer and dragon boat racing to tug-of-war, taking place at venues across the borough.
So far, more than 5,000 employees have signed up to take part in the event, but any teams still wishing to take part must do so quickly as the closing date for entries is tomorrow.
To give businesses an even higher presence at the games, Swindon Council is organising a tented village at the hub of the event, Lydiard Park.
Firms can hire marquees at the corporate village for the duration of the entire event.
