CHILDREN with Down's Syndrome have been enjoying the open road with the Sporting Bears Motor Club.

The club took Swindon Down's Syndrome Group members and their families for a spin after donating £2,000 towards the group's annual training day.

Group chairwoman Nicky Parker said the money would go towards the workshop in October for teachers, teaching assistants and parents of children with Down syndrome.

The workshop is aimed at showing the best ways to include Down's Syndrome children in mainstream schools and deal with numeracy, literacy and behaviour.

Mrs Parker said the group had 100 families and 100 Down's Syndrome professionals as members.

The Bears club took the families on a spin in cars, including a Ferrari, a white Stag, Chrysler Crossfire, an MG, a Mini, Audi and a Morgan.

"They have taken all the children out for a ride," Mrs Parker said.

"They have all had an absolutely brilliant time."
