YOUNG volunteers in the town are being encouraged to enter the Barnardo's southwest awards.
Every year the charity, in partnership with the Marsh Christian Trust, aims to recognise the hard work and commitment of volunteers within its fundraising, retail and children's services.
But the charity wants to encourage more interest from younger people so for this year only the organisers have decided to focus exclusively on the important role played by 16 to 25-year-olds.
Teams or individuals can be nominated by colleagues or members of the public, with certificates and cash prizes for the regional and national winners.
Pauline Twomey, volunteer development manager at Barnardo's south west, said: "These awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our many volunteers. We are looking for nominations of teams or individuals who have made a difference to the work of the charity by demonstrating an exceptional level of support and commitment.
Nomination forms are available by emailing carol.stickler@barnardos.org.uk. The closing date is Friday, May 26
