RESULTS sheets and athletes' numbers will be in plentiful supply after the UK Corporate Games secured another high-profile sponsor.

Stationery firm Staples UK will be giving its backing to the games, which come to Swindon on the weekend of June 2 to 4.

The retail giant, which has two stores in Swindon on Greenbridge Retail Park and Mannington Retail Park is supplying all of the office and stationery requirements for this year's games.

As well as providing stationery, Staples will also be sponsoring the golf event and entering its own team of athletes, made up of colleagues and customers.

Any businesses attending the event will also be able to get the latest business and technology advice at the Staples stand during event registration, as well as sign up for the Staples Business Reward scheme.

The general manager of the Greenbridge store, Roger Goodwin, yesterday handed over a trolley full of stationery to Esther Nicholls, of the Corporate Games, and said he can't wait for the games to start.

"We are thrilled to be supplying all the stationery for the Corporate Games," he said.

"It is a huge event for the people of Swindon and businesses across the UK and everyone here is so excited to be involved.

"Plans are already in place for us to enter our own team and we will also be sponsoring the golf event this year too. "

Miss Nicholls added: "We were so pleased when we heard that Staples will be providing all of the stationery for the Corporate Games.

"Staples is a big name in Swindon and in the world of business so they seemed like the perfect partner for this event."

The games are also getting further support from a Swindon firm.

Swindon's Currys store will provide three 42-inch plasma screens for schedules and results in the Games SuperCentre at Lydiard Park.

Meanwhile, Swindon firms have been granted an extension to the deadline for entering teams in the business Olympics. The deadline for entering ended yesterday but local firms now have until early next week to register a team. To enter call 01733 380888.

  • In a story on April 29, we reported that hotels around Swindon had seen a surge of bookings for the games weekend.

We incorrectly said that the Goddard Arms had 21 bedrooms, when it has 65. The hotel is fully booked that weekend. We apologise for the error and any inconvenience caused.
