PEOPLE in Swindon are being encouraged to take part in the Cancer Research UK's bike ride challenge, which will be held on Sunday.
The circular route covers 16 miles, beginning and ending at Lydiard House, travelling through Purton, Flaxlands and Hook.
Organiser Natasha Russell said that everyone who takes part will be doing their bit to help cancer sufferers.
"Almost everybody knows someone who has been touched by cancer. The money raised from this ride will go towards helping to support Cancer Research UK's scientists, doctors and nurses," she said. Organisers hope people who have never entered an event before will get involved to help raise funds for the charity.
They want as many people as possible to sign up to make it one of the biggest fundraising events ever staged in the town.
Peter Downes of Upper Stratton will be taking part, with his nine-year-old son Alex, after his wife Tina died of gallbladder cancer in January 2004.
Participants wishing to register on the day can do so between 9.30am and 10.30am, registration costs £15 per adult and £7.50 per child on the day.
People can pre-register by calling 01454 454800.
