A MUM says she can finally get on with her life after her former partner was found guilty of trying to kill their two children.

The 36-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, tried to gas his son and daughter in his car after his ex-lover refused to give their relationship one last chance.

After sending her threatening texts he drove from their West Swindon home to Lydiard Park where he locked himself and the children in his car and attached a pipe from the exhaust into the vehicle.

They were only saved when police officers tracked down his Renault Megane and pulled the hose from the fume-filled car.

The man broke down as the jury returned guilty verdicts for the two charges of attempted murder and four of making threats.

After the case the mum said: "I am able to move on with my life and support my young children and put this tragic incident behind us."
