PARENTS of children at a West Swindon school are taking a petition to the Prime Minister.
A campaign to keep Windmill Hill Primary School open was started following Swindon Council's announcement that it may be shut down.
But parents are fighting back and will travel to 10 Downing Street on May 25 to hand in their 200-signature petition.
One of the campaigners, Pam Durston, 35, who has two children at the school, said: "We hope this will show the Schools Organisation Committee that we support the school and we do not want it to close."
The council wants to close the school to deal with the 680 surplus places in West Swindon schools by 2009.
It plans to move children from Windmill Hill to a new school on the Freshbrook Primary School site.
