THERE are thousands of people across the world looking for love on the internet.

But when Marcus Smith and Frayer Brown posted their pictures on a dating website they never imagined that the love of their lives would be just around the corner literally.

The couple were both in Stratton.

And after a whirlwind three-month romance, Marcus knew Frayer was the woman for him and asked her to marry him. But he wanted the proposal to be a bit different so decided to do it on the ice.

"It was so weird that we were both in Stratton," said Frayer, 31. "You don't expect to meet someone that close to home. It was perfect."

The sales assistant added: "I knew I wanted to marry Marcus as soon as I saw his picture. He was gorgeous and looked like the marrying type.

"We went out for our first date in Highworth and since then we have been inseparable."

Marcus, 28, who works at Honda, feels the same.

"We have only been together for three months but we know we want to spend our lives together, so why wait," he said.

And with the relationship going so well Marcus decided it was time to pop the question.

On Saturday he told Frayer he needed to go to the ice rink at the Link Centre to help his friend who works there put some advertising banners up.

"I had to try and think of a way to get her there without making it look obvious," he said.

"I wanted it to be a big surprise."

What Frayer didn't know was that her boyfriend had sneakily hired the ice rink for an hour.

"When we arrived there were some lights shining on the ice and they were playing love music," said Marcus. "It looked better than I had imagined. I was really pleased."

Frayer said: "I knew he was up to something when we arrived because I couldn't understand why there was nobody else there."

Marcus has always enjoyed ice-skating and he impressed Frayer with some twists and turns before the lights were dimmed.

"I asked Frayer to marry me and she said yes straight away," he said.

And she couldn't be more thrilled.

"I'm so happy," she said. "I was really shocked but this is so great.

"People say we are two peas in a pod and we really are we like the same things and just want to spend all of our time together."

The couple, who will move in together soon, are now planning to wait two years before they walk up the aisle.
