FRESH from running the London Marathon in a suit of armour and riding around Australia on a penny farthing bicycle, wacky fundraiser Lloyd Scott has taken up a new challenge travelling to Land's End from John O'Groats with a flat tyre.

Lloyd was on the Swindon leg of the journey yesterday and said he was relishing the challenge.

"We have even travelled certain distances with four flats," said Lloyd, 44, of Essex. "I was going to do the whole thing like that, but it would have required too many replacement tyres.

"It needed to be something different from other fundraisers I have done.

"People get bored of the same thing again and again. This was perfect as it is so bizarre and unique. Many people told us we had a flat tyre and others just gave us funny looks."

All money raised by this event will go to the charity Children with Leukaemia.

"This is a cause very personal to me as I had leukaemia when I was younger," said Lloyd.

As well as donations from the public, car tyre giants Goodyear issued a challenge to Lloyd to test its new RunOnFlat tyes, which can run after being let down or punctured.

Lloyd took nine days to run the London marathon this year. As it was run on April 23, St George's Day, he was inspired to wear a suit of armour weighing almost 100lbs and drag a model dragon of 200lbs.

He raised £1.8m, beating the previous fundraising record by almost half a million pounds.
