DIANA Gough is hoping to set up a support group for widows in Swindon.
The 63-year-old from Oxford lost her husband nine years ago and says that the National Association of Widows saved her life.
Now she wants help people living Swindon who have lost their husbands.
She said: "I was feeling very low and the group helped stopped from me going under.
"You can always ring another member if you are down and they know what you are going through.
"Members often have their family to help but they don't want to be a constant burden."
The association began in 1971 and there are now more 30 branches across the country.
Diana's Oxford branch meets up once a week for a cup of coffee and members also go on trips out.
"We've been on holidays all over the world with the group, plus there are local day trips. I really enjoy the company," she said.
Diana has already distributed leaflets at Swindon's Central Library and council offices.
She said: "We start branches by meeting in a caf, but if there is more demand we can hire a room.
"Members see each other at least once a week and we have great fun.
"I know exactly how people who lose a husband feel and I hope people will get together in Swindon."
