A SWINDON garden designer has won a prestigious award.
Phil Osman has won a silver medal at the Malvern Spring Show for the Garden of Celebration he entered.
And the garden is now being uprooted ready to move to its permanent home at the Prospect Hospice.
Phil designed the garden, which will now be taken to the hospice at Wroughton, with the help of a group of garden design students from Swindon College.
And people from all over Swindon have helped the team to raise the £12,000 needed to create the garden, which will now be moved to the hospice at Wroughton.
"We are absolutely ecstatic to have the medal," said Mr Osman.
"This is a medal for the people of Swindon and everyone who has supported us."
He added: "Over the next few weeks we will be installing the garden at Prospect."
The team's aim was to create a garden where patients, staff and visitors could enjoy a moment of solitude or reflection as well as spend time with friends and family.
It features a shallow mosaic pond, the tiles for which have been rolled, cut, designed and hand-painted by patients, relatives, volunteers and staff during an art therapy project at the Prospect Hospice.
When it's back at the hospice, the garden will be set in a natural bowl within the grounds in woodland surroundings.
It will contain seating, pathways and planting to reflect its woodland setting.
Other features will include lots of sensory plants, such as lavender for scent and tall grass for movement.
All of the plants have been chosen to thrive all year round and the garden will cover an area of 120 metres at the back of the hospice.
To raise the money the group have held quiz evenings and fashion shows, both of which were held at the Thistle Hotel.
Last year Mr Osman won a bronze medal at the show, which is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society and the Three Counties Agricultural Society.
