THAMES Water staff have been taking part in the company's Time to Give volunteering initiative and are undertaking a series of challenges in the local community over the coming months.

Seven volunteers from the customer centre in Swindon set about building a compost bin for Root & Branch, near Watchfield.

Root & Branch is a charity offering therapeutic gardening opportunities for people with mental health difficulties.

Project manager Liz Clarke said: "The Thames Water challenge day has helped Root & Branch enormously.

"We now have a sturdy, well made compost bin that is easy to use and attractive. The help they have provided has been invaluable and I recommend Business Challenges to any community organisation."

The challenges have been sourced through Volunteer Centre Swindon who work with volunteer involving organisations and businesses promoting employee supported volunteering.
