Trade has really taken off at The White Hart in Lyneham, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, since ex-pilot Nigel Brown took over four years ago. But he has now sold the pub in order to return to the skies!
This substantial detached character inn has been sold to an experienced local pub operator, Mr Kevin Wickes from nearby Wootton Bassett, through the Bristol office of Christie and Co.
The White Hart is a former coaching inn dating from the 18th Century. The pub is located 10 minutes walk and two minutes drive from RAF Lyneham air base and attracts locals, tourists and walkers. Set back from the main road, the pub has a main bar, a 30-cover dining area, four en suite letting bedrooms within a converted coach house and three-bedroom owner's accommodation. There is also a large garden with children's adventure playground and ample parking.
Nicholas Calfe, of Christie's said: "This was Nigel Brown's first foray into the licensed trade but he has now decided to return to flying as an EasyJet pilot.
