POLICE are urging drivers to take extra care in wet weather after a car went out of control in Old Town.
Traffic was at a standstill just after 3pm yesterday when the driver of a green Renault Megane lost control of the car on a section of waterlogged Drove Road just before the junction with Hunt Street.
The car, left, apparently aquaplaned and collided with a Daewoo Tacuma people carrier, which then ended up hitting a wall.
The Megane was left with significant damage to the bonnet while the Daewoo had extensive damage to the front and side of the vehicle.
Police officers say they are not aware of any injuries to any of the vehicles' occupants.
They were quickly at the scene diverting traffic while the accident was cleared.
PC John Webb of Swindon's Road Policing Unit said: "This accident was caused because the driver did not adjust to the wet driving conditions we face at the moment.
"We would urge drivers to take more care in the current weather conditions."
