SOUTH Swindon MP Anne Snelgrove has been on a bike to support Breathe Easy Week and the British Lung Foundation.

Mrs Snelgrove joined the charity campaign at the House of Commons by trying an exercise bike.

"The Lungs Are For Life campaign is very important," she said.

"Many people don't realise that lung disease often starts in childhood and can continue into later life.

"It is really important to look after your lungs and this campaign will help highlight that.

"I am delighted to be supporting the British Lung Foundation who have done so much good work raising the issue of mesothelioma, the asbestos-related lung illness dubbed Swindon Disease."

Breathe Easy Week runs from June 10 to 17 and aims to raise awareness of the importance of good lung health while highlighting that lung disease affects people of all ages.

Lung Foundation chief executive Dame Helena Shovelton said: "One person in seven in the UK is affected by lung disease from tiny babies to older adults and many are severely disabled by their condition."
