PEOPLE from eight to 80 are being urged to go along to the West Swindon shopping centre on July 1 and participate in a cycle ride to nowhere.
The event, part of the NSPCC's national Big Bike Ride weekend, will raise money to help abused children in the Swindon area.
"This is the charity's first national fundraising event and it's hoped thousands of people all over the country will be taking to the roads and cycle tracks," said branch chairman Sue Hooper, of Corby Avenue, Old Town.
"But we decided to raise our contribution on a static exercise bike."
Volunteers will pedal hard in shifts from 9am until 5pm. And onlookers will be invited to guess the mileage being clocked up on the machine's distance counter.
"There will be a £1 charge for three guesses," said Sue. "And a prize of a bicycle for the one whose guess is nearest to the day's total."
To find out more call Sue on 01793 530912, or fitness instructor Jules Beckett at the Marriot Hotel leisure club on 01793 512121.
Cyclists can get out in the fresh air between June 30 and July 2 for the same cause. Ring 0845 456 0001.
