DRIVERS passing through Wootton Bassett have been having their fortunes read by a fortune teller at a gypsy camp site.
Two New Age travelling families have spent the last two days camped on the A3102 Swindon Road at the roundabout close to the Prince of Wales pub.
The families are currently making their way to the Sunrise Celebration near Yeovil, which is a festival designed to promote and showcase renewable energy.
But Ezmerelda Sanger, 44, used the stop-off in Wootton Bassett to showcase talents of her own.
"I read tarot cards and I've had a couple of people who have stopped to have their fortune told," she said.
"I've been doing it for years and it has proved quite popular with people who stop after seeing our caravans.
"We've only been here for a couple of nights, but we're leaving later as we're heading down to the Sunrise Celebration.
"We can only do between five and 10 miles a day, so we regularly have to stop off when we find a nice verge to let the horses have some rest."
Ezmerelda is travelling down to Somerset with her husband David, 42, 10-year-old daughter Zoe and the Delaney family.
"We've been all over," said David. "I'm in a band with my mate Pete Delaney called the Hedgerow Crawlers and we play all over the country. In fact we've just come from Purton where we've recorded our first CD.
"We don't tend to stay in one place very long and we basically survive on Ezmerelda's tarot card reading."
The two families, their horses and four caravans will be heading to another festival later this summer when they visit the Big Green Gathering near Cheddar between August 2 and 6.
"The whole festival is all about promoting wind, solar and pedal power, as well as permaculture and there is a huge horse-drawn camp, which we will be attending," said Pete.
"There will be blacksmiths, artists, caravan makers and all sorts of people just like ourselves, who believe in looking after the environment."
