SWINDON'S new radio station has moved to a step closer to launch.
Brunel FM, which was announced as the winner of Swindon's new FM licence last year, has received confirmation of its allocated frequency space from Government regulators Ofcom.
The radio station is set to launch from the former studios of GWR FM in Wootton Bassett in late summer. It will broadcast on 107.7 FM.
Station manager Martin Mumford, pictured left, said he is pleased that the frequency has now been confirmed.
He said: "While we've known our frequency was likely to be 107.7 FM for some time, it's not until the regulators have checked that our transmissions won't interfere with other broadcasters and also checked that with their European counterparts that you can be certain.
"Now we've secured our place at the top of the radio dial we can begin securing our place in the minds of Swindonians ahead of our launch."
