PUPILS from Lethbridge School, in Old Town, have been taking it in turns to visit Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.
The visits were organised to coincide with the school's art week.
The children each chose a painting in the gallery that they liked and selected a pattern from it.
The older groups then used the patterns to create stencils and made their own pastel pictures, while the younger ones used different types of paper to tear out their patterns and create pictures.
The 460 pupils attended a number of sessions organised by art gallery officer Barbara Dixon and run by the museum's education officers Elaine Bennett and Richard Hailstone.
Kirsty Hartsiotis, the collection's development officer at the gallery, said: "We were absolutely thrilled to have Lethbridge School pupils come for the week.
"We would love to repeat this event with other schools."
Any other schools which wish to arrange a similar event can contact Kirsty on 01793 466556.
