THOUSANDS of garden seats are being recalled because they are in danger of keeling over when used.
Asda has removed the folding wooden chairs from sale after receiving complaints from customers.
Tests carried out for the chain showed the seat's metal legs buckle if the user wobbles about.
This made the slatted wooden chairs vulnerable to collapse, a spokesman said.
Asda, which has two stores in Swindon, at the Orbital shopping park and at West Swindon, pulled the £10 packs of two folding wooden chairs which are made in China from its stores last week.
It has already sold around 4,000 and is now urging customers to return them to their nearest stores.
The Asda spokesman said the chairs had already been tested to what is known as "camping'' standard before they went on sale.
He said: "Although tested to a weight of 110 kilos, it is more a question of wobbling than how much you weigh and that's why we've taking the decision to recall these chairs. Naturally we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The two customers who complained were not injured by the folding chairs, the spokesman added.
Asda has offered customers a full refund for the chairs, plus an additional refund to those who also bought the matching table from the same garden furniture range.
