CHILDREN have been digging up a host of buried treasures at the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.
As part of the museum's finds day children had the chance to look for objects around the grounds of the Old Town site.
And among the day's discoveries were a medieval buckle, Roman coins and some lead weights from the 17th century.
Kirsty Hartsiotis, the museum's collections development officer, said: "Everyone who came along had a really great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"We had about 60 children all looking for a host of different objects."
The event was structured towards the children during their half-term holiday.
But on the last Wednesday of every month the museum opens its doors to collectors who have something unusual to show off.
"It's amazing what can be found around Swindon from people using metal detectors and digging," said Mrs Hartsiotis.
On these finds days the museum will look at the items to discover where they have come from.
The next event will be on Wednesday, June 28.
