A MUGGER threatened to stab a 13-year-old boy unless he handed over his BMX bike. Shaun Bickley, of Islandsmead, Eldene, has been left terrified by the ordeal "I didn't want to risk getting stabbed over a bike," he said.

His mother Julia says it has made the family think about moving out of the area after the robbery at the village centre on Saturday.

Mum-of-three Mrs Bickley, 36, believes Eldene is suffering after a dispersal order was put in place at Liden shops, driving the yobs out to other areas.

She said: "We have been here about three years. We were going to do the house up and rent it but we stayed because of the kids and we liked it.

"It seems it (the dispersal order) has solved the problem in one place and moved it around and now it's focusing here."

The shops are covered by CCTV but the robber managed to evade the cameras and Mrs Bickley thinks he knew what he was doing.

Shaun was with a friend and the man demanded his phone but when the friend moved into view of the CCTV the attacker backed off. The man threatened to stab Shaun before pushing him off his bike and riding off.

The bike was a black Nerve BMX with stunt pegs on the rear axel, gold and red dust caps on the wheels in the shape of a bullet and the word Nerve written on the frame.

The robber was white, 5ft 4ins, with short blonde hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing a white top, white trousers and white shoes. Anyone with information should call PC Dean Singleton on 0845 408 7000.
