AN ALCOHOLIC who pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated public order offence has been back in court for breaching his bail.
Richard Pike, 28, of Birdcombe Road, Westlea, was told not to drink any alcohol when he was released on bail after pleading guilty to the public order offence on May 19.
But he was arrested in the earl hours of Saturday when police found him drunk in the Bridge Street area.
Pike appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Saturday where his bail conditions were relaxed.
Defending Rob Ross said Pike should be allowed to drink alcohol at home.
"At the moment he would only have to drink half a pint of shandy to be in breach of his bail conditions and that is kind of ludicrous," he said.
The chairman of the bench, Malcolm Wilford, re-released Pike on bail on the conditions that he does not drink alcohol in a public place and is not found drunk in public.
He is due back in court for sentencing on June 13.
