THE election count in Swindon has gone right down to the wire this morning with both seats still too close to call.
Speaking to the Adver returning officer Steven Taylor said he was waiting for the results of one more ward to come back.
However, early indications were that Tory Justin Tomlinson had won a large enough majority to secure the North Swindon seat.
But a question mark remained over whether Labour stalwart Anne Snelgrove had managed to hang on to South Swindon.
The count saw several wards being recounted for various reasons.
The Oasis leisure centre was a hive of activity with hundreds of people clamouring over one another to find out what had happened.
Rumours had been circlating all night that both seats could go blue and there were murmurings that recounts would be demanded.
If Justin Tomlinson does secure his seat, this would be the first Tory MP for the town for 13 years.
Since the town was split into two constituencies in 1997 both have been held by Labour MPs.
