THE Heart FM breakfast show crew, Jez, Roo and Greenie, were on hand to receive a cheque for the radio station’s Have A Heart appeal.

The cheque for £400 was presented at Heart FM’s studios in Swindon last week.

It was part of the proceeds of last year’s Emergency Services Show, which has seen cheques totalling more than £12,000 being presented to ten local charities.

In addition, a presentation was held recently at the Wiltshire Fire Headquarters, in Potterne, near Devizes, attended by chief fire officer Andy Goves, chief constable Brian Moore, and the chief executive of the Great Western Ambulance Service, David Whiting.

The Emergency Services Show is held at Hullavington Airfield every September.

The aim of the show is to promote vital community safety messages while raising funds for local charities.

Heart FM attends the show every year too and, after recently re-launching its Have A Heart charity, the volunteer committee behind the show wanted to plough some of the funds raised in to this cause which supports disadvantaged children living in the Swindon and Wiltshire area.

Heart FM’s regional fundraising manager, Caroline Langmaid, said: “Heart Radio was thrilled to be a part of this event which year on year draws lots of crowds.

“Each year Have A Heart raises funds for projects supporting disadvantaged kids across the county.

“The funds donated by the Emergency Services Show will form part of our next round of grant being offered to local charities and voluntary groups.

“Over the last two years Have A Heart has awarded more than £200,000 to projects and supported more than 40 groups.

“Without the support of the Emergency Services Show and donations we couldn’t help the thousands of children we do.”

The other charities which were chosen to share more than £12,000 were The Fire Fighters Charity, Bobby Van Trust, The Ambulance Service Benevolent Fund, Wiltshire Search And Rescue, SWIFT Medics, RAPID UK, Wootton Bassett Sea Cadets, Victim Support and Berkshire Search And Rescue Dogs.
