SUSIE the saviour has been lapping up the attention after rescuing a missing kitten which could have frozen to death.
Susie is a lurcher saluki cross greyhound belonging to Lynn and Peter Johnson of Haydon End, Swindon.
Just before Christmas last year, Susie was taken for an early morning walk when she began frantic barking and sniffing at an area of bushes.
Meanwhile, neighbour Lorna Hayes was also out at that time, searching for her kitten Welly who had gone missing.
When Lorna looked among the bushes where Susie had been barking, she saw her kitten.
Lorna said at the time: “Susie found my kitten nearly dead in the undergrowth – we were ecstatic because we thought he had been caught by a fox or killed by the cold.
“I thought Welly was gone and I would never see him again.”
Now Susie has been basking in the limelight. One TV company has been filming her for a programme on a satellite channel. And the prize pet has also received an award from the Ching Hai Internatinal Association, who read about her heroics and presented Susie with an array of gifts.
Owner, Lynn Johnson donated the treats and dog food the Lyneham-based Greyhound And Lurcher Welfare Rescue.
“This charity-funded team work tirelessly to find the greyhounds and lurchers new homes,” she said.
