Swindon’s Old Town Festival is welcoming entries for its heat in this year’s Swindon Talent ‘10 contest.
This is the third year of the contest and the festival has been on board for all three. The festival heat is on Sunday, June 27 at 11.30am.
Patsy Moloney, one of the organisers of the festival, said: “I think we have lots of talent in Swindon. I think the competition is absolutely fantastic and it will be good to have some new people entering this year.’’ The whole aim of the festival is to bring Old Town people together to have fun and the first day on Saturday June 19 is Jazz In The Street, with bands including Banjo Pete’s Allstars and Jean-Paul Garde.
Giving a New Orleans feel is Ray Butt and his Wood Street Stompers who will be strolling around playing for the crowds.
In the evening there is a family pop concert in the Town Gardens Bowl with Kingdom, Lady Birds, City Riot, Paradox and Ode And The Bebops strutting their stuff.
The following Saturday, June 26, is the grand parade with community groups from all over Swindon marching through the streets in colourful array.
The Lawns will play host to a dog show, a re-enactment from the Sante Fe Gun Fighters, various stalls and pupils from Commonweal School will provide a showcase.
The final day of the festival on Sunday, June 27, is in the Town Gardens with brass bands in the bandstand and Swindon Talent 2010’s wannabe stars showcasing their skills, followed by a pop concert.
