SWINDON Museum and Art Gallery is keeping its doors open late tomorrow in celebration of a national event.
Museums at Night is a national campaign, showcasing the unique and vibrant museums, galleries, heritage sites, libraries and archives in the UK. From 5pm until 9pm you can bring in items and documents for the museum to photograph and scan to help create a virtual museum online.
You will also be able to see exhibitions and displays including information on Wiltshire Young Archaeologists & Swindon Museum Friends as well as our BBC and British Museum History of the world object ‘Fanny Williams Football Boots’. From 7.30pm local historian Bob Townsend will be giving an illustrated talk on the early days of cycling, 1817-1950s, including the world record set at the County Ground in 1926.
