SEVEN teenagers have been left heartbroken after their limo reservations were cancelled by the owner of the company.
Hannah Spencer, 16, and her six friends, say their prom preparations have been left in peril after Mustafa Yilmaz, the owner of Must Afa Limo, called to notify them that he had sold the limo, due to poor trading conditions.
And although he assured the group that he had passed on their deposit to another firm, those plans fell through as well.
Hannah’s mum Wendy said that she was surprised by the cancelation considering the teens had all pooled their money together last year to book the entire event.
She said: “They’re all very upset over the whole situation and are planning a boot-sale just in case they don’t get the money back.
“They were in their garages last night looking for things to sell.
“I think one of the most annoying things is that he convinced us not to look elsewhere and that everything would be dealt with.
“If we had of looked at other companies at the time perhaps we could have found another limo, but now, despite looking everywhere, everything seems to be booked up.”
Hannah, who will be attending her year-11 prom at the Blunsdon House Hotel on July 1 said she has been let-down by the company owner.
The Greendown pupil said: “We are pretty angry because we were relying on him to fulfil his promise and he has left us high and dry.
“We are now looking for other limos but it seems like they have all been booked up.
“Me and all my friends are holding a boot sale selling clothes and books at Blunsdon Market next Sunday to recoup the money.
“Now we expect to go in separate taxis, but it’s just not the same.”
Mr Yilmaz, 39, who had been running the company since 2003, said he would either pay back the money or provide taxis for the teens.
He said: “Because of the financial situation I wasn’t able to carry on running the limo company anymore.
“I sold the car and transferred all the jobs to another company, but they couldn’t fulfil the work.
“I have tried to phone other companies since but everything appears to be booked up.
“I will either be paying the deposit back to the family in the next week or will provide them with a taxi and a Jaguar for the prom.
“Most of my customers have been paid their money.”
