THE detective leading the investigation into the murder of Chippenham personal trainer Donavan van Lill has vowed not to give up until his body is found.
More than two months after the 29-year-old Corsham rugby player went missing from his home in Pewsham, officers are still working relentlessly on the case, despite not finding his body.
Detective Superintendent Norman McKeaveney said: “The search for Donavan’s body is ongoing and we have been conducting further searches this week.
“I am still committed to finding him, and I believe we will.”
The Olympiad Leisure Centre gym instructor vanished from his home on March 3, leaving his mobile phone, wallet and lap top behind, with his Facebook account logged on.
Two weeks later colleague and friend Martin Sugden, 41, of Stanton St Quintin, was arrested and charged with murdering the man with whom he he had travelled to South Africa in 2007.
Det Supt McKeaveney said: “There are a number of gaps on the day Donavan disappeared that we are still trying to plug.”
